Lucknow: Tension aroused and violence erupted in UP town after a video was circulated on social media that showed objectionable comments on Hindu gods and women goddesses.
According to police official, curfew was clamped in some parts of Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district on Thursday night after violence was broke out when someone posted objectionable video on social media platform.
Speaking about the same, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Daljeet Chowdhary said that the situation is under control now.
Member of two communities reportedly clashed following the surfacing of the video which was shot on Wednesday and that resulted in vandalism of shops in Kharwaranganj and Kucchehri areas.
One youth from Muslim community was arrested along with two other accomplices for creating video by the police and cops have to shot fired thereafter, which left two injured.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) was called and a brief hearing was held after the violence, later the accused were taken to the jail on Thursday night.
The accused have been sent for 17 days judicial custody by the CJM for further interrogation related to the case.
