Australia on standing position against India in 1st Test

Bengaluru: Visitor team Australia reached 40 for no loss at stumps on the opening day of the second Test at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru today after restricting India to a meager 189 in the first innings.

Australian openers David Warner scored 23 runs without losing his wicket along with Matt Renshaw who contributed 15 runs and was standing on the pitch till the end of today’s game after he survived a few close calls from off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

For bowling side, earlier off-spinner Nathan Lyon returned with career-best figures of 8/50 to bundle out the hosts for a total of 189 runs after Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat.

Host team opener batsman Lokesh Rahul, with a score of 90, was the lone bright spot in India’s forgettable first innings.

The skipper of host Indian team Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first in the second Test against Australia today at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru from their five match cricket series.

The Kangaroos after winning the opening Test in Pune by a massive 333-run against the host, the visitor team yesterday announced they will play second test with unchanged team.

On other hand, India has made a couple of changes in their playing squad after losing the first test match.

India has replaced middle order batsman Karun Nair with all-rounder Jayant Yadav and its opener batsman Abhinav Mukund has made entry in playing XI in place of Murali Vijay, who was ruled out of the Test after a shoulder injury.
