New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, former Pakistan National Security Advisor (NSA) Mahmud Ali Durrani today admitted that the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks is planned by the terrorists group based in his country.

However, at the same time, he said that the Pakistan government has no role behind the heinous terrorist attacks carried out by the militants.

 

 

Interestingly, this is the first time that any high-ranking Pakistani official has admitted and made confirmed India’s stand that the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) plotted and executed the carnage nine years ago.

Durrani who was the NSA when 10 Pakistani terrorists sailed into Mumbai on November 26, 2008 and killed 166 Indians and foreigners said, “I hate to admit that the 26/11 Mumbai attack carried out by a terror group in Pakistan is a classic trans-border terrorist event.”

The former Pakistani NSA was speaking here at the 19th Asian Security Conference held at the Institute of Defence Studies and Analyses.

 

Pakistan admits Mumbai terrorist attacks planned at its soil

 

At least ten Pakistani terrorists, on November 26th in the year 2008, arrived by sea route and opened fire indiscriminately at people which resulted in killing of 166, including 18 security personnel, and injuring several others, besides damaging property worth crores.

The attack was begun on November 26 and lasted until November 29 at different places in Mumbai Metro Politian city like Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Oberoi Trident, the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital, the Jewish community centre were some of the places targeted by the terrorists.

Ajmal Kasab was the lone militant who was captured alive and he was hanged four years later on November 21st in the year 2012.
