Imphal: Voting on 22 state assembly seats for second phase of Manipur polls begins today morning at around 7 am amid tight with security arrangements and it will end at 4 pm in the evening.
The main focus will be on Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh’s Assembly seat Thoubal where he faces challenge by rights activist Irom Sharmila.
A total of 98 contestants will vie for the 22 seats spread across the valley districts of Thoubal and the hill districts of Ukhrul, Chandel, Tamenglong and Senapati.
The state has total number of 19,02,562-strong voters including 9,28,573 male voters and 9,73,989 about female voters. There are around 45,642 new voters.
Second phase voting begins for Manipur polls today morning
In this last phase of Manipur elections, near about 1,151 polling stations have been set up for the second round of polling to the 60-member state Assembly constituency.
Elaborate security arrangement has been done by the Election Commission as they have deployed 280 central police force companies to keep the election free and fair.
