Militants ransack in the house of Kashmir police officer

Srinagar: A least two militants ransacked in the house of a Superintendent of Police officer in Kulgam yesterday evening. The militants barged into the house of Mohd Ayub Mattoo, father of SP (Operations), Bandipora, Dawood Mattoo, under Khudwani area in Kulgam.

 

 

Some heavily armed militants believed to be belonging to the banned Hizbul Mujhaideen have threatened a senior police officer’s family and ransacked the house in Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Tuesday evening.

According to police, four militants on Tuesday night ransacked the house of a senior police officer in Khudwani village in South Kashmir Kulgam District.

They tried to scare his family members by firing two to three rounds in air. No one was however injured.

This report comes after a militant was shot dead at Chadoora in Budgam district during an encounter. After the incident stone palters clashed with police during which three civilians were killed.

 

 

These activities just come a day after two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants were killed in an encounter in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Over the last seven days this is the third such incident of militants threatening and ransacking property of police families in South Kashmir.

A day earlier, armed militants had barged into the residence of an assistant sub-inspector of police and a constable in Kashmir’s Shopian district and ransacked their houses on Monday night. The militants fired in the air before fleeing from the spot.

Earlier, they had looted the house and torched the car of a Jammu and Kashmir Prisons Department officer in Budgam district.
