Banda: There is a near escape for the passengers of Mahakaushal Express after eight bogies of the train got derailed early morning in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district near neighbouring Mahoba which left at least 60 persons injured out of them 10 are in critical condition.
The incident took place at around 2 am when the express train running between Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and Hazrat Nizamuddin in New Delhi derailed between Laadpur and Supa near Kulpahar stations after last eight bogies skips the railway track early today.
According to SP (Mahoba) Gaurav Singh said, ten of the seriously injured have been admitted to a private hospital in Mahoba.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed state Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh to visit the accident site to look after oversee rescue and relief operations.
A team of thirty doctors and 21 ambulances have been rushed to the accident site, the minister said.
Two helpline numbers 05101072 and 051921072 have been activated for the help of passengers and their family members and rescue operations are on in full swing.
Eight bogies of Mahakaushal Express derails in UP, 60 injured
According to reports, the bogies which derailed comprised three AC and three general.
Earlier, the Chief Public Relations Officer, North Central Railway had said that around eight coaches from the rear sides of the train have derailed.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along with senior administrative and railway officials have reached the incident site and investigations are going on to ascertain the cause of the accident.
The railway division has diverted few trains between Allahabad and Jhansi after the accident.
In similar kind of incident at least, 41 passengers died and over 60 were injured after nine coaches of the Hirakhand Express derailed in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district earlier in 2017.
In November 2016, at least 150 people died and over 300 were injured after 14 coaches of the Patna-Indore Express derailed near Kanpur on November 20th.
