Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which came to power in Uttar Pradesh last month after a gap of 14 years, celebrated with fanfare its 37th Foundation Fay across the state on Thursday.
The celebrations were led by Uttar Pradesh BJP chief and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who took a broom and cleaned up the office of the party state headquarters.
BJP spokesman Chandra Mohan said Maurya checked all departments at the party office for cleanliness and urged the members and office-bearers to contribute to the ‘Swatch Bharat’ mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, by keeping their surroundings clean.
Maurya also exhorted the party leaders to spread among the people the information about the work done by the central and the state government for their welfare.
The BJP also announced it would be celebrating the birth anniversary of Bhimrao Ambedkar on April 14 as ‘Samrasta Diwas’.
In other places across Uttar Pradesh, party office-bearers and workers also celebrated the foundation day.
