New Delhi : A nurse working at the Public Health Centre in Bhondsi was arrested after she was found to be involved in several cases of illegal termination of pregnancy. Officials claimed that the woman performed the procedure at her home.
Officials said a team, comprising Amandeep Chauhan, Drug Control Officer; Dr Sariyu Sharma, Deputy Civil Surgeon; and Shyam Sunder, District Secretary of the Red Cross Society, was set up to nab the woman, identified as Anamika.
“On Saturday, we sent a decoy patient to her residence in Bhondsi. Anamika asked for Rs 10,000 to terminate the pregnancy,” Sunder said.
“She has been handed over to police. Four used Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) kits were also recovered from her home. A complaint has been submitted to police for further investigation and action,” he added.
