BHOPAL: In a heinous act, a 24-year-old man killed his mother after she resisted his attempt to rape her in Kailaras town. The incident happened on Saturday and the accused, identified as Suraj Mittal, was nabbed on Monday.
Lakmi’s husband died eight years ago and since then she was living with her son, who is an alcoholic. On Saturday night, Suraj in an inebriated state entered the house and tried to rape his mother under the influence of alcohol. As she resisted his attempt, the son killed her by smashing her head with a stone, killing her on the spot. The man then went to sleep.
Investigators said the woman was murdered by him in an inebriated condition. He smashed her head with a huge stone killing her on the spot, said police.
Her body was found at her home in Kailaras town. Forensic officials were sure that she was killed after a rape attempt and that she had a struggle with the accused. They concluded that the woman had strongly resisted the rape bid, said sources.
After initial investigations police zeroed in on her son Suraj, who neighbors informed was an alcohol addict. Laxmi’s husband, Prabhudayal, died eight years ago. She was staying with her son since then.Police were also informed by villagers that they had heard loud noises from the house. Police earlier suspected role of a local criminal behind the murder but during sustained interrogation Suraj confessed to crime.
Morena Superintend of Police A P Singh told local media that bloodstained clothes of the accused and other evidences related to the have been confiscated.
