LUCKNOW: Body of a teenage girl was found in a canal in Sarojininagar on Tuesday. It appeared that the girl was strangled as a stole was wrapped around her neck.
Injuries were found on her face and throat. The injuries seemed to have been inflicted with a sharp edged weapon.
The body was spotted by some people in Anaura village around 4 pm. On closer inspection they realized that a girl had been thrown in the canal which is located close to ATS commando training centre. They informed the police.
The body was sent for the postmortem. District police spokesperson Arun Singh said postmortem report was awaited and opinion of doctors would be sought to find if the girl was sexually assaulted.
“The body may have been dumped somewhere else and came with the flow of canal water at Anaura. An alert had been sounded out to find out if missing report of a teenage girl had been filed,” said Singh.
