Gurugram: In a shocking incident, two teenage girls allegedly committed suicide after taking a selfie together at Aarey Colony in Goregaon city on Tuesday.
The incident was reported around 8.45 p.m. on Tuesday. The girls were 16 years old and lived in the same area, the Aarey police said.
“One of the girls’ brother saw them take the selfie at a well in the locality. He immediately raised an alarm and called the 100 helpline number. We rushed a team to the spot and the girls were taken to the Siddharth Municipal Hospital in Goregaon, where they were declared dead before admission due to drowning,” senior police inspector Vijayalaxmi Hiremath, Aarey police station, said.
The footwear and anklets of the girls were recovered from near the well, which is infamous as several residents have taken their lives there in the past, Ms. Hiremath said.
