Lucknow: The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) on Friday successfully conducted load testing of two metro trains on the remaining section of the North-South corridor, an official said.
The metro trains were run on viaduct.
This is being seen by many technical experts here and elsewhere in the country as yet another milestone for the 22.878 km long corridor from the Chowdhary Charan Singh International Airport to Munshipulia.
The trains rolled out from Charbagh at 6.30 a.m. and reached the newly constructed 177 meter-long balanced cantilever bridge over Gomti River where they will stay for 24 hours for load testing.
After the load testing, the metro trains will move to the 60 Meter Special Steel Span near Nishatganj and will stay there again for 24 hours, the official told media persons.
Lucknow Metro successfully conducts load testing on North-South corridor:
The metro trains will be back in Charbagh on December 31 after completing all the necessary tests and trials.
“All efforts are being made by the LMRC to commence signalling trials and integrated testing and commissioning trials on the balance section of the North-South corridor (Phase 1-A) so as to commission it as per the target stipulated by the government,” added the official.
To make the test possible, LMRC has recently completed the work of Over Head Electrification (OHE) and charged the OHE at midnight to feed power supply to the traction.
The gigantic project has become a reality in record time.
Kumar Keshav, Managing Director of the LMRC said, “It is a great day for LMRC and I appreciate the extreme hard work and dedication of the whole team at LMRC, our contractors and others involved in completing this tough task in a very strict time frame.”
The Metro work is likely to be completed by February, much ahead of the initial deadline of April 2019.
