Mumbai: India all-rounder Hardik Pandya and batsman KL Rahul will pay a fine of 20 lakh each to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their unsavory, sexist and disrespectful comments on a television chat show. The decision was taken by the BCCI Ombudsman D.K. Jain.
The (Retd) Justice in his order, made public on Saturday, took into account the unconditional apology given by the players for their comments which were condemned widely. The two faced five-match ban too by the Committee of Administrators.
“The remarks made by the player, even by his own admissions, did offend the sensitivities, which ought to have been avoided,” Jain said. The BCCI said the players had shown regret and apologized for the comments but that they had to “make amends”.
India’s World Cup squad player Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul fined of Rs 20 lakh each:
Mr. Jain also said: “In our country the game of cricket is often treated as religion, revered and the cricketers are idolised.
