Lucknow: The 9th month of Islamic calendar considered to holiest as fasting (Roza) is observed during this whole long month. Muslims follow the lunar calendar, which means Ramadan arrives several days earlier each year.
It is a time for reflection, contemplation and celebration. It is celebrated by Muslim community all around world. Ramadan falls depending upon the lunar position as the Islamic calendar is based on the lunar cycle of the moon.
Ramazan is month-long fasting observed by the Muslims community people during one whole month.
In this holy month, Muslims observe water-less fast from sunrise to sunset, reciting verses from Quran and attending prayer sessions in Mosque.

Fasting is obligatory for the adult Muslims except for people suffering from illness, while travelling, for older people, pregnant, breastfeeding mothers, people with chronic disease or menstruating.
Ramzan is expected to begin from May 6 or May 7, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon which would bring the current Islamic month-Shaban-to an end.
For the community, Ramadan is the best month to be closest to the God.
In some countries like Jordan, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, Ramadan began on May 6, while other countries will mark the holy month from May 7.
