According to executive engineer from Electricity Board (EB) sent useful information that how to operate your air conditioner and also reason behind that once desired temperature is reached, the compressor stops functioning and only AC fan works after which compressor restarts once the thermostat detects increase in temperature.
During summer days, it’s absolutely essential that air conditioner is running in best and favorable condition and here’s what you should do and avoid to ensure that you stay out of trouble.
To beat scorching heat everyone use Air conditioner regularly so mostly people run their AC at 20 to 22 degrees and when they feel cold they cover body with blanket which leads to double loss.
As we all know our body temperature is 35 degree Celsius and body can only tolerate temperature ranging from 24 degree to 39 degree easily which is known as ‘Human body temperature tolerance’.
When room temperature fluctuates to lower or higher the body reacts by sneezing, shivering etc.

So when you run the AC at 19-20-21 degrees, room temperature is much low than the normal body temperature which our body can tolerate and the process starts known as ‘Hypothermia’ in the body, which effects blood circulation as blood supply in some body parts is not adequate and leads to many disadvantages in long term such as arthritis etc.
Further adding to this mostly there is no sweating when AC is ON, so toxins in our body cannot come out and lead to cause risk in long term of many diseases especially skin allergy or itching even high blood pressure etc.
Generally power in your AC that consumes electricity depends on its star rating, the outside temperature, the hours of usage, size of the room, number of people in the room, insulation in the room, so when we run AC in low temperature it’s compressor continuously works on full energy, even if it is 5 stars, excessive power is consumed are pure wastage of electricity too.
So to avoid ill effect on your health it will be better to keep in range between 26 to 28 degree and put fan on low speed.
Each degree increase in the AC temperature can save about 3-5% electricity and decrease blood pressure on brain and help to reduce the effects of global warming at the regional level this savings can be cores of units per day.
Ajay Mathur, director general of TERI (The Energy & Resources Institute) said, “At 24 degrees, we are comfortable, even in high humidity situations, and the amount of energy used is much less than what it would have been at 18 or 22 degrees.”
So increase the temperature of your AC and keep it at moderate levels in order to not only conserve power, but also save on electricity bills to keep environment healthy.
