New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s character in upcoming movie ‘Bharat’ releasing on June 5 landed in controversy as a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed against movie in Delhi High Court on Thursday by Vipin Tyagi.
The movie Bharat directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, features star-cast consist of Katrina Kaif, Nora Fatehi, Disha Patani, Tabu Sunil Grover and Jackie Shroff.
Film Bharat is a remake of the Korean film ‘An Ode to My Father’ traces the journey of a man and a nation together.

Heartthrob Salman Khan with five different looks in the film has always been surrounded by controversies since he started promoting the film during the media promotion at different occasions.
Recently, at a press conference, Salman Khan said, “Priyanka Chopra, over Bharat, did choose USA in the ‘Nick’ of time. She has worked so hard all her life, okay? And when she got the biggest film of her Life, she dumped that film and got married to Nick Jonas. You know hats off! Usually, people leave their husbands for a film like this.”
According to Vipin Tyagi in his Plea violation of Section 3 of Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act for the title of the film “Bharat” cannot be used for the commercial purpose. Further adding to this patriotic sentiments hurts for people of the country in a dialogue where the character has been compared to the country as movie is distorting culture and political image of our great country Bharat.
Petitioner Tyagi talking about film said “This film is fraught with Salman’s typical flippancy and vulgarity. Being a ‘Bharatiya’, I feel it is not appropriate to name such film or any character associated with this film after our great nation.”
