New Zealand defeated India by 18 runs in the World Cup 2019 semi-final at Old Trafford in Manchester on Wednesday. With the win, New Zealand has booked their place in the final of World Cup 2019. India were left scrambling to chase down the 240 target New Zealand set them the day before when Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were all dismissed for just one run each.
“We failed to deliver as a team when it mattered, 30 minutes of poor cricket yesterday & that snatched away our chance for the cup. My heart is heavy as I’m sure yours is too. The support away from home was incredible. Thank you all for painting most of UK blue wherever we played (sic),” Rohit Sharma wrote on Twitter.
Virat Kohli admitted New Zealand were deserved winnings against India and said their dramatic 18-run defeat in the World Cup semi-final is “hard to take”.
Rohit Sharma’s reactions from the dressing room during the semi-final went viral on social media as the India vice-captain was gutted after losing his wicket early. When Ravindra Jadeja got to his fifty, Rohit rose up from his seat and signalled to the all-rounder to keep going in the tense chase.
