A video going viral on social media comes as both entertainment and a bit of embarrassment for the country. In this video, you’ll find staffers of a hotel in Bali searching an Indian family, who’d just checked out from here, only to pull out the hotel’s properties from the depths of their luggage.
In the 2.20-minute video, which has spread like wildfire, the staff can be seen in an altercation with this family, who is offering to “pay” for the items that they’d stolen.
As one of the staffers pulls out more and more of the stolen items from their bags, demanding an explanation, the family members can be heard apologising, offering him “extra money” and repeatedly reminding him that they have a plane to catch.
It’s not about money, I know you have a lot of money. This is no respect… You come to Bali, you stay here, but no respect…” the staff member chided the family, as they kept making offers.
By the end of the video, one of the men of the family says, “Yaar tum mereko yeh keh do na, bhaiya, ki 50 lakh ka maal dila do, I am ready. Yeh koi achaar daalne ki cheez hai? (If you ask me now to give you Rs 50 lakh worth stuff, I am ready. What will we do with these items anyway?) What is this? Sorry, I will pay.”
A woman can even be heard putting the blame on the ‘children’ while apologising to the staff, saying they didn’t know the items were not supposed to be taken. By the end of the video, another man in an olive green T-shirt can be seen joining hands and trying to take a staff member to a side to talk him out of it.
The staff could be seen recovering at least two basketful of items, including hairdryer, a mirror, soap dispenser, hangers, a cane basket, artefact, etc., stolen by the family.
The exact time and location of the incident and the details of the hotel and he family are unknown.
