Beijing: China has warned India not to block Huawei technologies for bidding in trials for 5G network India. It says the Indian companies in China may have to bear the consequences if India does so.
Due to the cold trade war going on between United States and China, it was seen that US has asked its allies to stop working and helping China based tech giant Huawei Technologies from providing support and services. Hence Huawei could suffer a major setback. The Chinese company has a huge market base in India which it doesn’t want to let go.
Whereas there are not many Indian companies in China but a few major players like Infosys, Mahindra and Mahindra, TCS and Reliance Industries Limited has its empire there which could be affected.
On 10th July, the Indian ambassador in China was called for a meeting with external affairs minister of China to discuss about the trade issues in telecom sector. Chinese minister said that Indian companies in China could have to bear consequences for not allowing Huawei for Trials in India.
Huawei, the world’s biggest maker of such gear, is at the centre of a geopolitical tug-of-war between China and the United States. U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration put the company on a blacklist in May, citing national security concerns. It has asked its allies not to use Huawei equipment, which it says China could exploit for spying.
The Indian foreign ministry did not respond to a request for comment. China’s foreign ministry also did not respond to a Reuters request for comment on the matter.
