A government spokesperson said on Tuesday that locust contingents are in danger in about 10 districts of Uttar Pradesh, bordering Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

He told that a locust team has advanced towards Morena in Madhya Pradesh via Saramathura in Karauli district of Rajasthan, which is likely to reach Madhya Pradesh’s Kailaras according to the prevailing wind direction.

Jhansi, Lalitpur, Jalaun and Auraiya of Uttar Pradesh have been alerted by this team. Along with this, Hamirpur, Kannauj, Etawah and Kanpur countryside and some other adjoining districts have also been instructed to be vigilant.

Earlier in Madhya Pradesh, medicine is being sprayed in the fields and trees with the help of the fire brigade to eliminate locusts in Satna. In Satna, 80 liters of pesticides and 4 fire brigade vehicles were used. The locust party was also killed to a large extent.
