Police has arrested 6 people in the murder of journalist Ratan Singh in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, while Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the journalist.
Azamgarh DIG Subhash Chandra Dubey said that there are 10 accused in the case. Many of the main accused have been arrested. The search is on for those who are absconding.
He said that nothing related to journalism was involved in this incident. It is purely a matter of land dispute between two parties.
Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Avnish Kumar Awasthi said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep condolences on the demise of the deceased journalist.
He has announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to his family. Apart from this, strict action has been directed against the accused.
Significantly, journalist Ratan Singh was going back home on foot on Monday evening after sitting here in the village, when some people fired on him.
According to the villagers, Ratan entered the house in village Pradhan to save his life but the attackers did not give up the chase and fired three bullets one by one. This led to Ratan’s death on the spot itself.
