Chhattisgarh three suspected Maoists killed in encounter in Kanker district

Three alleged members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) were killed during two separate encounters with the security forces in restive Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on Saturday, police said.

“Two Maoists, including a woman, were killed during an encounter with a joint team of the Central Reserve Police Force’s special unit CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) and 85th battalion near Reddi CRPF camp under Gangaloor police station limits of Bijapur district early morning today (Saturday),” said Bastar IG, S.R.P. Kalluri said in a statement.

“Two Bharmars (locally made guns) and one 12 bore rifle were also recovered from the spot of the encounter. The dead Maoists are yet to be identified,” added the IG.

One more encounter took place between the security forces and the Maoists in Kanker district of Bastar range late night on Friday leading to the death of another alleged woman Maoist.

“An exchange of fire took place near Matenga and Kudarwahi area of Kanker between the DRG (District Reserve Guard) and the Maoists at around 11 pm on Friday. During the search of the encounter spot today (Saturday) morning, a dead body of uniformed female Maoist was recovered,” informed Mr. Kalluri in another statement.

However, the security forces managed to recover two Bharmars, one cooker filled with IED (Improvised Explosive Devise) and some back packs from the spot of Kanker encounter.
