Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched the ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign. On this occasion, he has informed that the Delhi government will give a subsidy of up to Rs 1.50 lakh on the purchase of all categories of vehicles, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers. Along with this, he has made a special appeal to the youth that if they buy their first new vehicle, buy electric only.
On this occasion, Kejriwal also requested all the RWA, market associations,s and small and big companies to gradually convert their existing vehicles into electric vehicles in the battle of pollution. He said that the Delhi government rents private vehicles for its various functions and within the next six months the government will start hiring only electric vehicles.
Malls, shopping complexes, and large companies have been requested to build charging stations in their parking or open premises so that the electronic vehicle charging problem can be overcome to a large extent.
“In ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign, awareness will be created about benefits of electric vehicles and how it can contribute to making Delhi clean and pollution-free. I appeal to people to take part in the campaign to promote the replacement of polluting petrol and diesel vehicles with electric vehicles and make a contribution towards a pollution-free Delhi,” CM Kejariwal said.
The government has fixed an ambitious target of 25 percent electric vehicles among total vehicle registrations in Delhi by 2024, he added.
