After nearly being shut down for 11 months due to Covid-19 pandemic, schools in Uttar Pradesh are most likely to reopen from February 15 for classes 6 to 8. However, certain anti Covid-19 protocols will be kept in mind before starting the classes again.

The Department of Basic Education, Uttar Pradesh has put forward a proposal for the state government and CM Yogi Adityanath suggesting the reopening of schools for students of classes 6 to 8 from February 15. The schools for junior classes will reopen after the government approves the proposals put forward by the department of basic education. The government will also issue a fresh set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the proper functioning of the classes.

The government of Uttar Pradesh is reopening the schools in the state in phases, to prevent overcrowding and reduce the risk of infection among students and teachers. The classes will resume for students of standard 6 to 8 after a complete evaluation by the government. Apart from the reopening of schools for classes 6 to 8, the proposal put forward by the Department of Basic Education also suggests the reopening of schools for students of classes 1 to 5 from March 1, with several Covid-19 safety guidelines.

The Uttar Pradesh government has already reopened the schools for students of classes 9 to 12 in a graded manner. The schools for these students were reopened in October 2020 with several safety measures in place. The students of these classes have been attending physical classes since then.
