Section 144 has been imposed in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow with immediate effect on Tuesday morning. According to the information, to maintain law and order, till April 5, orders have been given to keep Section 144 in force. During this period, any kind of picket demonstrations, agitations and rallies will be banned.
In a press note, Lucknow Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Naveen Arora said that there is a strong possibility of the farmers’ agitation aggravating which can create a law and order situation in Lucknow.
The local administration said that political parties, student organisations, or farmer unions could hold protests in the region and that may lead to an “adverse effect” on the prevailing peaceful situation.
