Team India will take on New Zealand to claim their hands on the first ICC Test Championship trophy after beating England by an innings and 24 runs in the fourth test played at Narendra Modi Stadium and claiming the Test series 3-1.
Team India started the Day-3 having a total lead of 88 runs, the lead was then stretched to 160 runs with Team India getting bowled out at 365/10. Apart from Rishabh Pant’s hundred, Washington Sundar scored match defining 96 runs missing his well deserved century by a margin of four runs after being stranded at one end. Local boy Axar Patel also stiched a valuable partnership with Sundar scoring 43 runs and hitting five boundaries and one six.
England in their second innings had a poor start with four out of top five batsman failing to reach double digits. Captain Joe Root was playing a composed knock till Ravichandran Ashwin trapped him in front of the wickets when he was on 30 runs.
Apart from Joe Root, Daniel Lawrence looked comfortable on the wicket scoring a half-century. However, no other English batter had response to India’s spin bowlers.
Team India will now lock horns against New Zealand in finals of ICC Test Championship to be played from June 21, 2020 at Lords, England.
