On the occasion of International Women’s Day, which is observed every year on 8 March to salute the struggle of women, the Central Government has announced a big gift to women across the country. On 8 March, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has decided to allow free entry to women visiting protected monuments across the country. The order has been issued by the Joint Director General (AS) of ASI, M Nambirajan.
As per this order, Indian and foreign women tourists will be given free entry to all the protected monuments and archaeological sites on International Women’s Day. There are 3,691 monuments protected by the central government under the ASI. There will be free entry for women in monuments like Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, Sun Temple, Ellora Caves, Khajuraho, and Ajanta Caves on Monday.
The main purpose of International Women’s Day is to make people aware of the honor and rights of women. Women are also honored on this day in offices, schools, government institutions, etc. So that they can make this day feel special. Many programs are also organized at various places across the country.
