Lucknow: A 25 feet tall idol of Lord Laxman, brother of Lord Ram, will be installed in the city by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) in the city.
“Since Lucknow is also known as Lakshmanpuri, named after Lord Laxman, it is an ideal place to install his idol. That’s why the executive committee approved the proposal on Tuesday,” city mayor Sanyukta Bhatia told newspersons.
She was briefing about the project after the executive committee meeting held at LMC headquarters. “A budget of Rs 1 crore has been approved for the idol and Officers have been instructed to find out a suitable place for the project which will be completed in a year’s time,” she added.
LMC officials said that work for the project will start soon, the proposal will now be put before the LMC house scheduled later this month for formal approval. The height of the idol will be equal to the statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee installed at Lok Bhawan, they added.
