Bajaj Auto today announced that it closed the online bookings for the Chetak electric scooter within 48 hours in Bangalore and Pune. The online bookings had re-opened in the two cities on a first come first serve basis on April 13, 2021, with the company receiving an overwhelming response for the Chetak electric scooter.
The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is available in a couple of variants — Urbane and Premium. Below are their prices (ex-showroom, Pune).
Chetak Urbane – Rs 1.15 lakh
Chetak Premium – Rs 1.20 lakh
The Urbane variant of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is offered in two colour options — Cyber White and Citrus Rush. The Premium variant has four paint choices — Velluto Rosso, Indigo Metallic, Hazel Nut and Brooklyn Black.
The Chetak electric scooter boasts of a steel body with flush-fitted panels. It gets features like LED headlamp with horseshoe-shaped LED DRL, front and rear LED turn signals, keyless ignition, reverse riding mode and regenerative braking system. It comes with a tubular single-sided front suspension. There are 12-inch alloy wheels finished in either Matte Black or Slate Grey and Satin Black. The Urbane variant has a drum brake at the front, while the Premium variant gets a disc brake.
The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is equipped with a 4kW motor paired with an IP67-rated 3kWh (48V, 60.3 AH) lithium-ion battery. The motor delivers 16Nm of peak torque. The battery can be charged at any three-pin AC 220V, 5A wall socket. A 25 per cent charge can be achieved in an hour, 80 per cent in three-and-a-half hours and 100 per cent in five hours. You can ride the Chetak in either Eco mode or Sport mode. The claimed range for the electric scooter is 95km in Eco mode and 85km in Sport mode.
Bajaj Auto offers a standard warranty of three years or 50,000 kilometres (whichever is earlier) on the Chetak electric scooter and the lithium-ion battery. The service interval is of one year or 12,000 kilometres (whichever is earlier).

Covid-led disruptions last year resulted in an unintended and long waiting period but despite that we have seen very few cancellations of bookings. “We are conscious that customers would like to receive early deliveries of Chetak and start enjoying it as soon as possible, hence we have had to take the difficult decision of closing the bookings in view of continuing supply chain uncertainties. However, it is our endeavour to resolve the supply chain issues at the earliest, re-open bookings as well as roll into more cities within the next quarter,” he added.
