Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressing the nation on the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the country.
This comes comes soon after PM Modi interacted with top vaccine manufacturers of the country. In the meeting, the prime minister urged the vaccine manufacturers to continuously scale up their production capacity so that all Indians could be vaccinated against Covid-19 at the earliest.
During his speech PM said, “I appeal to the people to come forward and help the needy to overcome this battle against Covid-19. I appeal to the youth to make small committees in their localities to spread awareness about Covid-appropriate behaviour,”
“I appeal to the state governments that they take the migrant workers in confidence and urge them to stay where they are and not return home. The assurance from the states that they will soon be vaccinated wherever they are currently will help them a lot,” PM Modi said.
PM Narendra Modi’s address to the nation on Covid-19 comes at a time when India is seeing an exponential spike in its Covid-19 cases, while deaths too are increasing.
For several days now, India has been recording more than 2 lakh fresh coronavirus cases every day. The active case tally has crossed the 16 lakh-mark and several states have reported shortage of ICU beds, ventilators, and medical oxygen to treat Covid-19 patients.
