Government of Nagaland declares summer vacations for student amid rising number of coronavirus

Due to the sudden surge of Covid-19 cases across the state, the government of Nagaland has asked all the schools and colleges to shut down with immediate effect for summer vacations for the safety of all the students and staff members.

To control the surge of Covid-19 cases in the state, Chief Secretary J Alam issued fresh guidelines which will be in force from Friday till May 13. The guidelines said summer vacation in all schools and colleges would start with immediate effect.

It said all coaching or vocational institutions and student hostels have been closed but online or distance learning shall continue to be permitted. Educational institutes will reopen after reviewing the situation surrounding the pandemic in May.

The guidelines issued by the government further said that all cinema halls, swimming pools, gymnasiums, entertainment parks, auditoriums, theatres, assembly halls, sports complexes and stadiums, and similar places shall be closed.

Nagaland board exams 2021

The Nagaland Class 10 and Class 12 board exams were conducted as per the official schedule despite the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic across the country. The exams were conducted with several Covid-19 SOPs in place.

The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) commenced the board exams for class 12 students on April 6 while the board exams for Class 10 students began on April 7. Students were asked to wear masks and maintain social distance at the exam centres.

The government of Nagaland decided to shut down the schools up to Class 8 across the state on April 19 due to the rise in Covid-19 cases. The schools were ordered to remain closed with immediate effect till the Covid-19 situation in the state is better.

The kindergarten or pre-primary classes in all the schools will also remain closed, while regular lessons for Class 9 to 12 are being conducted. Now, classes have been suspended across the state and will resume after May.
