China has warned against “misconduct” as the British Navy Fleet Carrier Strike Group, led by the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, entered the controversial South China Sea region. The pro-government newspaper ‘Global Times’, considered the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of China (CCP), has said that “China’s People’s Liberation Army Navy is ready for any fight”.

China is closely monitoring the activities of the ‘Carrier Strike Group’ moving towards the east. This naval fleet of Britain is currently moving towards Japan via the South China Sea. Meanwhile, China has accused Britain of “still living in its colonial days”.

Contrary to the decision of the International Court of Justice in 2016, China claims most of this area and it is continuously building artificial islands, roads and other types of construction in this area. Some of these are very close to the maritime zone of its neighboring states. Recently, US and British naval warships have deliberately challenged China’s claim of sovereignty over the region by passing their ships through the South China Sea.
