‘Stop this nonsense’: Harbhajan Singh blasts Pakistan fans for accusing India of fixing T20 World Cup matches

Veteran cricketer Harbhajan Singh lashed out at Pakistan fans on social media who are accusing Team India of fixing their last two ICC T20 World Cup matches which they won by big margins to stay in the race for the semifinals in the United Arab Emirates.

India lost the first-two games against Pakistan and New Zealand by 10 and 8 wickets, respectively, which put them on the brink of exiting the tournament in the Super 12 stage. But Virat Kohli’s team bounced back in style in their next two matches, hammering Afghanistan by 66 runs and Scotland by 8 wickets to revive their slim hopes of making it to the last-four.

India needed to beat Afghanistan by at least 63 runs and had to chase down 86 in 7.1 overs against Scotland to improve their net run rate.

They did even better than the required equations and now have the best NRR among all six teams in Group 2. India now have to rely on the Afghans beating New Zealand on Sunday and then Virat Kohli’s men must defeat Namibia a day later to join Pakistan in the semis from Group 2.

Jealous of India’s sudden resurgence in the tournament, a section of Pakistani fans started accusing the Men in Blue of fixing ever since they beat the Afghans in Abu Dhabi earlier this week.

Harbhajan on Saturday now hit back at those fans with a video on his YouTube channel and asked the Pakistanis to stop their “nonsense” on social media.

“We accept that Pakistan have played very good cricket and everyone also appreciates them for playing so well against India and beating them. Congratulations on that. But if you start misbehaving by claiming that you play fair cricket and if we win, you doubt us, term it unfair, fixed then that is wrong. We all know your cricketers reputation,” Harbhajan said.

“Pakistan fans are unable to digest their win over India, which they got after waiting for so many years in World Cups. There is a way to talk and raise questions. But people are putting serious allegations against us, against Rashid Khan which is pretty cheap and disgraceful,” the 41-year-old added.
