After winning the first match of the India-South Africa Test series on foreign soil, it did not take long for the Men in Blue to lose their lead as the Proteas led by their skipper Dean Elgar managed to even out the series 1-1 but chasing down 240 runs on Day 4 of 5.
Due to variable bounce and a completely bowler-friendly pitch, both sides found it difficult to score big runs in the first inning. For India, the second inning was kept afloat by Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane whereas, for the hosts, it was their skipper, who once again held the fort all by himself and remained unbeaten while guiding his side to victory with a day to spare.
Under such circumstances, with the series tied and only one match to go, all eyes will be on the main captain of India in the longest format of the game and his road to recovery after he was ruled out of the penultimate match with a last-minute upper back spasm.
The newly-appointed head coach of the Indian cricket team, Rahul Dravid opened up about at what point is Kohli right now in terms of being cleared for the clash at Cape Town. According to the Indian legend, the Indian leader is been active and practicing in the nets. He is running and should have the green light to play the series-deciding match which is scheduled to start on January 11th.
While the news of Kohli’s recovery brings a sigh of relief among his fans, not everyone is optimistic about the kind of change he would be bringing to the table even if he was one hundred per cent healthy.
