Man dies after car driven by minor drags him for several metres

A man in his forties died in Jaipur after being knocked down and dragged for several metres by a car that was allegedly being driven by a 14-year-old boy.

The incident took place in Jaipur’s Vaishali Nagar on Thursday. According to an eyewitness, the minor hit a boy while driving an Alto car. He threw the car in reverse to flee the spot when the other boy’s father attempted to stop him. Instead of stopping, the driver sped up, rammed into the man and dragged him for several metres.

The man sustained grievous injuries and died later that night.

The CCTV footage of the incident accessed by India Today clearly shows the Alto car reversing and hitting the person who was trying to stop it. The driver did not stop the car and the victim was dragged for several metres.

The boy was handed over to the local police station but was allegedly allowed to leave shortly afterwards.

“The boy had hit a person on Thursday and while the father of the person he had hit tried to stop him while he was backing up, rather than stopping the car, he kept on driving. The man later died on Thursday night. The boy was handed over to the police station,” a shopkeeper near the scene of the accident told India Today.
