The Kashmir Files starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumar has collected over Rs 230 crore at the box office and is on course to go past Rs 250 crore in the next few days.
The film is in its third week but the collections are refusing to slow down.
Amid the film’s unexpected and unprecedented box office success, there was a discussion on social media about how Bollywood is mum about it.
Barring a handful of stars like Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Varun Dhawan, not many have spoken about its success.
In a recent interview with TimesNow Navbharat, Anupam Kher was asked about Bollywood’s silence over the film’s huge success, he replied, “As far as the Hindi film industry is concerned, I think they’re too much in shock. Aisa kabhi hua nahi hai. Whenever a shocking thing happens, it’s a very very strange reaction.”
He further cited an example of his 1994 all-time blockbuster Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and added, “Hum Aapke Hain Koun ka premiere hua tha toh the industry was saying, ‘Oh my God! Yeh kya banaya diya hai, yeh toh shaadi ka video hai‘. But it turned out to be the biggest grosser.”
He further talked about the A-listers of the Hindi film industry and their reactions to the film and revealed that Salman Khan personally called him. He said, “But individually, I must say, Salman Khan called me the other day and congratulated me.”
