Mumbai Indians and India captain Rohit Sharma is all set to become only the 7th batter to complete 10,000 runs in the men’s T20 cricket. The 34-year-old is just 64 runs away from reaching the landmark as he prepares to lead MI in their 2nd match of IPL 2022 against Rajasthan Royals at the DY Pati Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.
Rohit Sharma will become only the 2nd Indian batter after Virat Kohli to get to to the 10,000-run mark in the shortest format of the game. Rohit has scored 3313 runs in T20I cricket and holds the record for the most runs scored in the shortest format at the international level. He has scored 5652 runs in the IPL, sitting at the 3rd spot in the all-time scorer’s list in the T20 tournament.
Rohit looked in good touch in Mumbai’s IPL 2022 opener, hitting 41 from just 32 balls, smashing 2 sixes and 4 boundaries. However, MI lost their opener for the 10th successive year, failing to defend a 177-run total against the Delhi Capitals.
