Visually, the Suzuki V-Strom SX features a rugged look, with an adventure tourer design approach. The compact dimensions allow for the motorcycle to be useful in making it easy to manoeuvre in the city while allowing for improved handling on technical trails. The front has LED octagonal-shaped headlights similar to the Gixxer, with LED taillamps at the rear. Three colour options include Champion Yellow No. 2, Pearl Blaze Orange and Glass Sparkle Black.

The chassis has been derived from the Gixxer, with a new subframe and swingarm. The front has a telescopic fork and a 7-step preload mono-shock at the rear. Ground clearance is 205mm, with a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel with grippy tyres. Dual channel ABS is standard.

The 249cc 4-stroke, single-cylinder oil-cooled SOHC engine delivers 26.5bhp and 22.2Nm of torque. The weight has been managed by using analytic technology from MotoGP to develop the valves, shim type roller rocker arms, retainers and piston. The engine is suited for both city riding and high-speed cruising or off-roading Suzuki claims.
