A Kashmiri Pandit was shot dead In Pulwama district of Jammu & Kashmir on Sunday. Identified as 40-uear-old Sanjay Sharma, the man worked as an ATM guard, was shot in the chest at point-blank range in the Achan area of the south Kashmir district around 11 am, the district police have said.
The victim was shot when he was on his way to the market. Sharma succumbed to his injuries while he was being taken to the hospital. Sanjay Sharma’s body was later brought to his residence. A search operation has been launched to nab the assailants, officials said.
Rayees Bhat, DIG, South Kashmir said that his teams will trace the terrorist who shot the security guard.
Terror outfit TRF – a frontal of LeT – has claimed responsibility for the killing.
BJP Spokesperson Ranbir Singh Pathania also condemned the ‘Pakistan sponsored attack’ and assured strict action against the terrorists.
Other political leaders in the valley including Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti also reacted to the killing of Kashmiri Pandit in Pulwama on Sunday morning.
Writing on twitter, Omar Abdullah said, “Deeply saddened to hear of the demise of Sanjay Pandith of Achan in Pulwama district of South Kashmir. Sanjay was working as a bank security guard & was killed in a militant attack earlier today. I unequivocally condemn this attack and send my condolences to his loved ones.”
Meanwhile, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti blamed BJP government in the centre for its failure in protecting Kashmiri Pandits.
