LUCKNOW: Two women patients were allegedly molested by a 26 year-old man while they were asleep near gate number 2 inside KGMU in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The screams of one of the survivors drew the attention of the people who nabbed the man, thrashed him and handed him over to the police.
This is the third case of sexual assault on the campus of the medical university in the past four months.
The accused was identified as Pradeep Shukla, a resident of Atraoli in Hardoi district. He has been arrested under charges of attempt to rape, said the police.
The survivor from Tanda told police that because she did not get an appointment on Tuesday , she decided to stay back and went to sleep near gate number 2.
“Around 1.30am, I felt someone touching me. I woke up to find a man near me. I screamed at once and another woman lying next to me woke up and together, we raised an alarm.
Later, the woman told me that the man had also groped her,” she said.
“He said he was sleeping next to those women and in his sleep, his hands and legs touched them, at which one of them started to scream. He said they were making an issue unnecessarily,” said Srivastava.
KGMU, meanwhile, has washed its hands of the incident.
