Seoul: Actress Bhumi Pednekar has won the Face of Asia Award at the 24th edition of Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), and she is very “proud of it”.
Seen in a blue and peach ensemble, Bhumi accepted the award with grace. Talking about the win she said, “I am humbled and very touched that my work has resonated with audiences and critics in Busan. It’s my first international win so I am very proud of it. I have aspired to act in films that have something important to say and have worked sincerely to deliver convincing performances. I hope to be part of brilliant cinema that will be liked and remembered fondly in future.”
She also thanked her film’s director Alankrita Shrivastava and producers Ekta Kapoor and Ruchikaa Kapoor “for this great opportunity”.
She also took to her social media to share the win with fans and friends. In one of the posts, Bhumi went on to say she was trembling on stage and her speech, “didn’t turn out the way it sounded in my head.. Suddenly I felt like the room was boiling hot and I had dinosaurs in my stomach. But even though I was a nervous wreck I connected with each and every person in that room…that’s the beauty of cinema is beyond borders, language, ethnicities, caste, religion, or any societal bias. This year BIFF celebrated ending any discrimination. This was such an enriching experience, to be able to share stage and life with such brilliant and talented names globally.”
Apart from “Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare”, Bhumi will be next seen in “Saand Ki Aankh”, “Bala”, “Pati Patni Aur Woh” and “Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship”.
