Of 44 lakh recipients of Covid-19 vaccine shot in India so far, just 8,563 (0.2%) have reported adverse events. Similarly, more than 97% of people who received Covid-19 vaccine shot in their feedback were satisfied with the overall experience. Whereas 11% of the volunteers said that they were not informed about adverse events following immunization.
Data received from respondents show 97.4% said there was adequate social distancing at the booths, 98.4% had been informed about the process, 97.1% were asked to wait for 30 minutes after vaccination and 97.4% were satisfied with the experience.So far, 8,563 AEFIs have been reported which is 0.2% of vaccinated individuals, whereas 34 people have needed hospitalisation.
Of over 97 lakh healthcare workers, around 45% (43.7 lakh) have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Coronavirus vaccine so far. The second dose will be administered from February 13. The government is also hopeful that by Friday around 50% of healthcare workers will be covered for vaccination. Bhushan said vaccinations are curren-tly going on in 5,912 public and 1,239 private facilities, adding that feedback had been received from vaccine beneficiaries through the Co-WIN system.
Health secretary Rajesh Bhushan said, “There have also been 19 deaths after vaccination process, none of which have been casually related to the jab shot. There is a structured and robust system of AEFI in the country which has been further strengthened in light of Covid.”
