Yes, you read that right. As a Delhiite, two sets of emotions have probably hit you with this headline. You are either elated, your Whatsapp family/friends groups are already buzzing, or, like most of us, you are wondering if this just another ploy to ‘divert’ the attention from the living hell that the capital city turned into, courtesy the deadly Covid wave that attacked us. The Delhi government has announced that home delivery of Indian and foreign liquor will now be allowed through an app and a web portal. The delivery will not be done at a hostel, office or an institution. As soon as the news came in, people on social media were divided in their opinion. A lot of people are actually happy about this and to mark this celebration, memes have obviously started floating.
Some were quick to remind the state government that the promise of delivering oxygen was being met by delivering alcohol now.
However, the other side of the coin has residents wishing the government had made more efforts in delivering oxygen and vaccines, which are more important than alcohol at this point of time.
