Over the last month, one of the biggest reasons why the Sri Lankan cricket team has managed to give somewhat of a challenge to Shikhar Dhawan and his Men in Blue has a lot to do with all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga playing at a high level.
And while he couldn’t leave a significant mark with his bowling during the second T20I at the R. Premadasa Stadium, the two boundaries that he hit in the game-changing moments helped the Lions tie the series at 1-1 and gave them hope of sneaking another victory to win the series on Thursday.
However, in the first innings of the match with the Indian batsmen on strike and Hasaranga on the bowling end, the Sri Lankan decided to steal of the many uncanny and creative moves from the bag of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
In the 19th over, he tried to take Nitish Rana’s wicket on a surprise run-out when he blindly threw the ball towards the stumps as soon as he collected it. To give Hasaranga credit, the ball did connect with the stumps, ripping apart the bails. However, it took a little too much time and Rana had successfully crossed the crease to remain safe by the time.
