Former Chennai Super Kings bowler now working as a bus driver in Australia

It is often said that destiny is a matter of choice and in the case of former Sri Lankan and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Suraj Randiv, destiny has played an important role in giving a new meaning to his new life.

Off-spinner Randiv was a part of Sri Lanka’s playing eleven in the 2011 World Cup final which was won by India. You will be surprised to know that Randiv has now become bus driver in Australia to earn his livelihood.

Besides Randiv, another former Sri Lankan player Chinthaka Namaste and former Zimbabwe cricketer, Waddington Mwayenga are also working as bus drivers in Australian city of Melbourne.

Randiv, 36, has represented Sri Lanka in  12 Tests, 31 ODIs, and 7 T20Is. He claimed 43 wickets in Tests, 36 wickets in ODIs, and 7 wickets in T20Is. Randiv also took 1 five-wicket haul in Tests and ODIs. Randiv also represented Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led CSK in the IPL for 2 seasons and bagged 6 wickets in 8 games.

Besides driving the bus, Randiv also play at the district level for Dandenong Cricket Club. According to reports, Cricket Australia had called Randiv as a net bowler to assist the Australian batsmen before the Border-Gavaskar series 2020-21.
