Uttar Pradesh gears up to prevent floods amid heavy rains

The Yogi-Uttar Pradesh Government has expedited its relief and rescue operations, and directed the officials to arrange relief measures in flood-affected districts on an immediate basis.

Putting all its efforts to mitigate the impact of floods in the districts, the state Government has established around 1108 relief shelters in 791 villages of 17 districts.

In many districts, normal life is affected due to excessive rainfall and flooding. In this regard, preemptive measures have been taken by the UP Government including the better management of dams.

Directing the authorities to ensure that relief operations are not delayed in areas affected by floods or excess rain, CM said, “Permissible assistance should be provided to the people affected by the disaster within 24 hours,” said CM Yogi while addressing a high-level meeting on Tuesday.

He has ordered the authorities to keep a constant eye on the water level of rivers and make all the necessary preparations for flood control. The NDRF, SDRF, and disaster management teams have been kept on high alert 24*7.

Over 66 teams, including those of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), SDRF and PAC to tackle the floods have been deployed in 42 districts of UP.

The Government has deployed around 4835 boats and 949 medical teams. As many as1297 flood posts and 1090 animal relief camps have also been established.

More Than 78,000 Dry Ration Kits Distributed; Over 1000 Animals Camps Established

Over 78285 dry ration kits have been distributed while 5123 dry ration kits were distributed in the last 24 hours. The state government has distributed over 3.6 lakh lunch packets to the affected people till now. In the last 24 hours itself, 23117 lunch packets have been distributed.

For the protection of animals, the Government, till now, has established as many as 1090 animal camps in the state. In these camps, vaccination of more than 648405 animals has been done.

Nine NDRF Teams And 18 SDRF Teams Deployed In These Districts

Preventing the damage caused by heavy rains and floods, Yogi Government has deployed 9 NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams in nine districts — Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Bahraich, Shravasti, Siddharth Nagar, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Ballia and Varanasi.

While 18 teams of SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) have been deployed in Moradabad,Agra, Bareilly, Balrampur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Ballia, Varanasi and Maharajganj.

39 PAC Deployed In 39 Districts

Similarly, 39 PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) teams have been deployed in 39 districts of the state including Sitapur, Bahraich, Balrampur, Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Pilibhit, Kheri,Fatehpur, Rae Bareli, Banda, Etawah, Agra, Auraiya, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Ballia, Bijnor, Deoria, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Siddharth Nagar, Ayodhya, Gonda, Shravasti, Hardoi, Barabanki, Chandauli, Kanpur Dehat, Kannauj, Hamirpur, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Meerut, Bhadohi, Prayagraj, Aligarh, Kasganj and Muzaffarnagar.

At present, a total of 66 teams are pre-deployed for rescue operations in 42 districts.
