Great news for Lucknowites! City retains its 12th position in Swachh Bharat Survey

Lucknow: With the constant support from it’s citizens, Lucknow Municipal Corporation managed to hold on its 12th rank in the Swachh Bharat Survey 2021. Like previous year, Lucknow was competing against 47 cities in the country with a population over 10 lakh.

As per the results announced by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA), Lucknow secured 4,586.17/6000 marks in all three categories allotted by the housing ministry.

All 4,320 cities were evaluated only in three categories, Citizen Feedback (1,800 marks), Service Level Progress (2,400 marks) and Certification (1,800 marks).

Lucknow scored highest under the parameter of ‘Citizens Feedback’ getting 1549.78/1,800 marks as compared to last year when civic body managed to score 1029/1500 marks. The parameter consists of public participation by answering questions regarding the civic services provided by the local urban body. All remarks and feedbacks were registered through ‘Lucknow One app’.

A great improvement was also seen under Service Level Progress when compared to last year. LMC scored 1,936/2,400 under the parameter. On contrary, LMC only received 1080/1500 marks under SLP last year. The parameter includes smart and new technologies introduced by the civic body within a year to improve garbage management and living condition of the city.

Civic body only managed to get around 1,101/1,800 marks under the parameter of certification, municipal corporation was only managed to get around 500/1500 last year. The parameter ‘certification’ includes  verification of open defecation status (ODF) and Garbage Free City (GFC). Lucknow has received three stars under GFC meaning 600/900. Similarly, the city has recieved the status of ODF++ which means obtaining 500/900 marks.

City mayor Sanyukta Bhatia and municipal commissioner Ajay Dwivedi were presented with mementoes for their continuos efforts to give the city a status of GFC and ODF++ status at a ceremony inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind.

City mayor Sanyukta Bhatia said, “Even with limited resources and Covid pandemic, the never ending support of our public has made us retain the spot we will continue to provide world class services to our city.”

Municipal Corporation Lucknow was also ranked 12th in the previous year as, 121st rank in the year 2019, 115th rank in the year 2018, 269th rank in the year 2017.
