During police interrogation, the man accused of shooting at Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s car on Thursday said that he shot with the “intention of killing”.
The main accused, Sachin, said he wanted to become a big political leader and was upset after hearing Owaisi’s speeches. That’s why he hatched the plot to murder Owaisi along with his close friend Shubham, he revealed during interrogation according to the police.
“When I fired at Owaisi, he bent down. I fired downwards and thought he had been shot. Then I ran,” Sachin told the police.
He also said that the plan to attack Owaisi had been in the works for several days. He was constantly monitoring the MP’s movement via social media and had gone to many of his meetings looking for an opportunity to attack. However, he could not due to large crowds.
“When I got to know he would be travelling from Meerut to Delhi, I reached the tollgate before him and fired as soon as the car arrived,” he said during police interrogation.
