The Indian Embassy in Poland issued an urgent advisory to Indian nationals in war-torn Ukraine on Wednesday urging them to travel at the earliest to the Budomierz border for a quick entry into Poland.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, the Indian government has been coordinating efforts to evacuate all Indian nationals in the country via Poland, Romania, Hungary and other neighbouring countries under Operation Ganga. Union Minister General VK Singh is in Poland to oversee the evacuation efforts there.
WHAT DOES THE ADVISORY SAY?
The advisory issued by the Indian Embassy in Poland asks Indians in Lviv, Ternopil and other places in western Ukraine to travel at the earliest to Budomierz border check-point to enter Poland quickly.
“Alternatively, they are advised to travel south to transit via Hungary or Romania,” the advisory said.
The Embassy has deployed officials at Medyka and Budomierz border check-points to receive all evacuees and facilitate their travel to India.
However, the advisory told nationals to avoid the Shehyni-Medyka border crossing on account of it being congested.
Further, the Embassy said in its advisory that those who enter Poland from border crossings where Indian officials are not deployed should go to Hotel Prezydencki in Rzeszow where arrangements have been made for their stay.
“Transportation charges will be paid at the hotel by the Embassy, in case the Indian student does not have funds for this,” the advisory said.
