The state budget of 2022- 23, allocated a lion share of 16.5% fiscal to the state Education Department.
The allocations set apart for the various government schemes comprising of rs15783.86 crore for the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Rs3100 crore as Financial aid to the central government sponsored midday meal scheme for primary school children, Rs303 crore for student scholarship , Rs 200 for the construction of primary school buildings, Rs700 crore for student credit card scheme and Rs 243 crore for CM bicycle yojana.
The midday meal scheme(MDM) that had been discontinued lately because of the Covid- 19 pandemic, is resuscitated following the two year break.
Deputy Chef Minster cum finance minister Tarkishore prasad said that an substantial amount has been provided in the budget for the development of the facilities, infrastructure and the qualitative improvement of the education in Bihar.
He quoted that considerable reforms have already been made in the field of education and several more are in the pipeline.
The buildings of around 6258 newly established schools are said to be renovated and constructed with an estimated amount of Rs 7530 crore during 2022- 23.
“The posts of headmasters have been sanctioned in primary and secondary schools and appointments on all these posts would be made soon, ” He quoted.
Replying to the the discussion on the Budget, the education minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary stated that the state government has already furnished the free and compulsory admission of boys and girls who belonged to the weaker sections of the society on 25% o the total number of seats in the private schools.
He also added that the government would be indemnifying the loss of fees suffered by these schools. He also quoted that the private schools must properly notify the these schemes to the poor children could utilize them.
He stated that the government is also ready to launch an affiliation portal to gran affiliation to the deserving private schools. He also said that the government is also ready to send is delegation to the southern states to check if they have better mechanism of monitoring the admission impoverished children in private schools as per the Right to Education Act, 2009.
